Dear members and friends of LCR,
On Reformation Sunday, October 28, we will begin a four week worship emphasis called Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity. This series of four sermons will seek to help us all find the joy and contentment that come with a simpler, more generous way of life. My message this Sunday, When Dreams Become Nightmares, will focus on the American Dream; how affluenza and credit-itis fuel the dream; and how God’s vision of financial management brings joy that the American Dream can never bring. Our Enough series will culminate on Celebration Sunday, November 18, with the ingathering of our financial commitments for next year and the packing of 30 Thanksgiving baskets for local families in need.
A new adult class, meeting at 9:05 in the lounge and led by Don Johnson, will dive deeper into the Enough book that inspired our fall series. We will also welcome our new members at both the 8:00 and 10:00 services and encourage you to greet them during the fellowship hour.
There are other unique events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note. Our website (www.lcrmarion.org) provide more details on each topic.
Blessings to you,
Take Away Hunger – Thank you to everyone who participated in our Take Away Hunger Event last Sunday. We were able to exceed our goal and packaged 91 boxes with 140 people helping during the three shifts. This translates to 3,276 bags of food which equals 19,656 meals being sent to families struggling from recent natural disasters in the United States. Also, thank you to those who generously donated to our Christmas offering which made this event possible. Thank you for living out your faith through your service and generosity!
Sunday School continues their new unit on David and Psalm 23 this Sunday at 9:05. Sunday School doors (#6 circle drive and #7 YAC) will be locked at 9:05 am each week to limit distractions for kids in the YAC. If it looks like you may be late for Sunday School, please bring your kids through the main entry.
Wednesday Night Live and Confirmation will not meet this Wednesday night, October 31. EDGE will meet at the usual 7:30 time.

On Celebration Sunday, November 18, we’ll gather in financial commitments for 2019 and pack 30 Thanksgiving baskets for families connected with Marion Cares, Mission of Hope, and Matthew 25. We will also need pies, potatoes, canned goods, rolls, or other Thanksgiving dinner items to fill the baskets. Monetary gifts to purchase extra items are always welcome. Thanks in advance for your generosity!
