Resurrection E-news: Sunday, October 14, 2018

Dear members and friends of LCR,

On Sunday, October 14 (and Wednesday the 17th), we will continue our “Give Yourself a Power Surge” sermon series with a message on Marks of Discipleship: Relationships. In my message we’ll look at how we are created for community, with deep needs for family and friendships. Jesus had two small groups in his adult life: an outer circle of 12 disciples, and an inner circle of three – Peter, James, and John. We’ll explore four kinds of small groups at LCR or in the wider community- activity, growth, support, and mission groups.

The Resurrection Choir will share an anthem at 8:00, with Holy Communion served at 10:00. At both services we will recognize staff who have served LCR for fifteen years (Emily Carson) or ten years (Jill Hansen, Evelyn Beck, and Marcia Edwards).  There will be a reception in their honor in the gathering space at 9:05. Stop by for a piece of cake and thank them for their many years of faithful service.

A Church Council Open Forum will meet at 9:15 and  10:45 in the fellowship hall for conversation and feedback on various topics.

A Take Away Hunger Packaging Event will be held next Sunday, October 21, starting at 9:00. We are in need of 23 people for the 9:05 – 10:00 time slot23  for the 10:05 – 11:00 time slot; and 7 people for the 11:05 – 12:00 pm time slot. Look for Jill Hansen at the gathering space table to sign up.

If you have not yet signed up for a time, you can do so this  Sunday morning in the gathering space, or go online to our website (www.lcrmarion.org) and click on the Connect image in the lower right-hand corner. Pastor Dennis
