Dear members and friends of LCR,
On Sunday, March 31, we will hear from guest preacher Pastor Jerry Collell, the pastor of the new ELCA congregation Free Indeed that meets in the maximum security Anamosa State Penitentiary. Pastor Jerry will also hold a forum from 9:15 to 9:45 (middle section of the fellowship hall) for those who would like to learn more about this ministry.
The Lenten season continues this week with midweek worship on April 3 at 6:00 & 7:00 pm. On these Wednesdays, along with Holden Evening Prayer, we are having short skits featuring biblical characters from the passion story to help deepen and enrich your Lenten experience. This week’s guest will Barabbas. Meatball subs will be served by the families from Wee Wisdom Preschool from 5:15-6:30.
There are other unique events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note. Our website (www.lcrmarion.org) provide more details on each topic.
Blessings to you,

The LCR Council met earlier this month with leadership from Bishop Burk’s office. Pastor Paul Ostrem walked us through the next steps for the congregation as Pastor Dennis’ June 1 retirement approaches. The first step is to request an interim pastor, which we have done. We expect to have the interim pastor in place by June. The next step will be establishing a call committee. Right now the council is working to determine the formulation of the call committee. Our hope is to have the call committee in place shortly after the interim begins. If you have questions about the process please address them to Jim Shaw (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Dave Jensen (email@example.com).
