Resurrection E-news: Sunday, June 24, 2018

Dear members and friends of LCR,

This Sunday, June 24th (and Wednesday the 27th), our Pine Ridge mission trip group will share stories about the week and testimonies of how they saw God at work with the Native American community in South Dakota. This was truly a congregational mission trip – thanks for your prayers, financial support, and many other donations that were shared with the people in Pine Ridge. The team includes: Scott Gardner, Hunter Gardner, Hilary Hinrichs, Pastor Miranda, Matthew Lang, Seth Paulson, Karen Stadtmueller, David Stadtmueller, and Alyssa Weaver.

There are other unique events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note, such as the LCR/Mission of Hope Golf Outing Fundraiser  and the Heavenly Harp concert – both held this Sunday, June 24th. Our website (www.lcrmarion.org) provide more details on each topic.

Blessings to you,

Pastor Dennis

FLY helpers are needed every Monday during the summer to distribute sack lunches to children in our community. We’ve had a great response for lunch  preparation, but we still need delivery people. If you can help deliver on Mondays go to http://signup.com/go/SKJgrTS. Lunches are picked up at First Methodist in downtown Marion. You can volunteer on Fridays if that works better for you. Contact jill@lcrmarion.org with questions.

Work Day – The gardens at LCR are looking lovely. To keep them that way, we are planning another work day on Saturday, June 30 from 8:30-11:30 am. And, YES, there will be a break time with treats! Bring gardening tools and gloves. Invite a friend to come and work with our group. – LCR Landscape Group (Andy & Marilynn Carter, Denny & Julie Gilds, and Linda Hayward)

GIVE

General Fund gifts support our local ministries and programs along with our mission partners locally and around the world. Through May, we received 94% of what was needed for General Fund ministries. Thanks for your generous, faithful support! In these the summer months, your support will be needed more than ever for our ministries like preschool VBS, day camp, and scholarships for campers going to EWALU. If you will be absent from worship this summer, note the ways you can give electronically listed below.

Your gifts to the Growth & Outreach Fund in June will provide salary, benefits, and housing for our seminary intern, Alyssa Weaver; facility maintenance and repair; and  support of Marion Cares after-school programming and the home we partnered in building with Habitat for Humanity

May-June mission envelopes are designated for the Community Health Free Clinic in Cedar Rapids. The Clinic provides medical, dental, vision, and prescription services for under-served people in our community.

Giving through VANCO – You can give electronically to LCR through: the giving kiosk by the library or  the Give+ mobile app, available from Google Play or iTunes. Once your information has been entered on the app, you can give to LCR anytime, anywhere. Another option is to send a text message to the number (319) 320-1628 from your mobile phone. You will receive a one-time registration link to enter credit or debit card payment information. After that, you can simply text the amount you want to give and it will process automatically.

Simply Giving – You can elect to have a weekly or monthly gift withdrawn from your checking or savings account. Enrollment forms are in the info rack by the Welcome Center. Over a third of our General Fund offerings come from Simply Giving families.
