Resurrection E-news: Sunday, June 10, 2018

Dear members and friends of LCR,

This Sunday, June 10th, will feature a brief word of thanks by Patti Kunz of Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity on our partnership in building a home recently in Marion.  I will preach on the second topic in our four week sermon series – “Forgiveness: Finding Peace Through Letting Go.” This week’s message is on forgiveness in marriage and other close relationships.

We have two mission trips currently underway – one in Malawi for Camp Chisomo, and a second one at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. In addition, our first group of campers head to EWALU for week one of camp. Please keep the youth and adults on these trips in your prayers.

There are other unique events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note, such as the LCR/Mission of Hope Golf Outing and the Heavenly Harp concert on June 24th. Our website ( provide more details on each topic.

Blessings to you,

Pastor Dennis

In these the summer months, your support will be needed more than ever for our ministries like preschool VBS, day camp, and scholarships for campers going to EWALU. If you will be absent from worship this summer, note the ways you can give electronically listed below.

Giving through VANCO – You can give electronically to LCR through: the giving kiosk by the library or the Give+ mobile app, available from Google Play or iTunes. Once your information has been entered on the app, you can give to LCR anytime, anywhere. Another option is to send a text message to the number (319) 320-1628 from your mobile phone. You will receive a one-time registration link to enter credit or debit card payment information. After that, you can simply text the amount you want to give and it will process automatically.

Simply Giving – You can elect to have a weekly or monthly gift withdrawn from your checking or savings account. Enrollment forms are in the info rack by the Welcome Center. Over a third of our General Fund offerings come from Simply Giving families.

Your gifts to the Growth & Outreach Fund in June will provide salary, benefits, and housing for our seminary intern, Alyssa Weaver; facility maintenance and repair; and  support of Marion Cares after-school programming and the home we partnered in building with Habitat for Humanity.

May-June mission envelopes are designated for the Community Health Free Clinic in Cedar Rapids. The Clinic provides medical, dental, vision, and prescription services for underserved people in our community.
