Dear members and friends of LCR,
On Sunday, August 19th (and Wednesday the 22nd), the Harvest Hope Home Children’s Choir from Malawi will present a concert during worship, sharing their songs and stories of hope and faith. These children represent an organization that supports pastors, widows, and orphans in rural Malawi. Harvest Hope Home is an orphanage modeled around long-term family care. These children, along with many others, have been blessed greatly by the Harvest Hope ministry. The choir has been traveling the United States preforming at churches and community centers since July 12th. The children have had many wonderful experiences here in the states and have enjoyed sharing such a delightful part of their culture with the congregations they visit.
There will be baskets outside the worship room as you leave if you would like to donate directly to the choir to support their travel & lodging expenses.
There are other unique events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note. Our website (www.lcrmarion.org) provide more details on each topic.
Blessings to you,

Your gifts to the Growth & Outreach Fund this year have been exceptional! Through July we were able to: fund intern Alyssa’s position; give over $21,000 for Camp Chisomo scholarships, Marion Cares SHINE after-school programs, and a new Habitat for Humanity home in Marion; and provide almost $25,000 for building maintenance costs, including our recent parking lot repairs. We anticipate hiring a new communications director in the next month or two, with the salary and benefits coming from this Fund.
General Fund gifts through July were 99% of what was promised, pro-rated through July, from the 227 families and individuals who made General Fund commitments last fall. Thank you for your faithful giving! Your support this fall will provide for the staff and materials needed to carry out our Sunday School, EDGE, confirmation, and Wednesday Night Live programming, along with supporting our choirs and worship needs.
