Dear members and friends of LCR,
On Sunday, April 7, we will continue our sermon series called John: The Gospel of Light and Life. I will share a message on “An Example, a Command, and a Promise” from the words of Jesus at the Last Supper in John 13 & 14. A video clip about Father Maximillian Kolbe will leave you with a memorable example of someone who took Jesus’ words seriously to “love one another as I have loved you.” At the 8:00 service, we will hear an anthem by the Galileans and celebrate Holy Communion.
The Lenten season continues this week with our last midweek worship on April 10 at 6:00 & 7:00 pm. This week’s guest will Dysmas, the thief on the cross. Spaghetti will be served by our EDGE youth from 5:15-6:45. Proceeds will support their mission trip to North Carolina this July.
There are other unique events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note. Our website (www.lcrmarion.org) provide more details on each topic.
Blessings to you,
Holy Week Worship Services: Palm Sunday (April 14)- 8:00 & 10:00; Maundy Thursday (April 18)- 7 pm; Good Friday (April 19)- 7 pm; Easter Sunday (April 21)- 8:00, 10:00, and 11:15. On Easter, our largest crowd will be at 10:00 with over 400 in attendance. If you normally attend that service, please consider coming at 11:15 as both the 10:00 & 11:15 will feature our With Faith band. All Easter services will offer holy communion.
Ushers and Communion Assistants – Please check in at the usher’s stand with Marcia Edwards before worship so we know if we need to find subs. We have had a problem lately with people not showing up to carry out their roles as ushers or communion assistants. If you can’t find a sub, email Marcia at Marcia@lcrmarion.org or call the church office by Friday at 4 pm so we are aware of the need for a substitute.
Easter Worship Assistants – At the 11:15 service on Easter (April 21) we are in need of a projector operator, acolyte, offering assistant, greeters, ushers, and communion servers. If you can help, please email Marcia Edwards (Marcia@lcrmarion.org).

The LCR Council met early in March with leadership from Bishop Burk’s office. Pastor Paul Ostrem walked us through the next steps for the congregation as Pastor Dennis’ June 1 retirement approaches. The first step is to request an interim pastor, which we have done. We expect to have the interim pastor in place by June. The next step will be establishing a call committee. Right now the council is working to determine the formulation of the call committee. Our hope is to have the call committee in place shortly after the interim begins. If you have questions about the process please address them to Jim Shaw (email@example.com) or Dave Jensen (firstname.lastname@example.org).
