Anyone who would like to join in singing with the choir for this service should join us for a brief rehearsal at 10 am on Monday. Ministry

Mission of Hope Luncheon Program served a great, filling meal to 140 hungry people in our community on August 1st. Thanks to our faithful team members who prepared, transported, served, and cleaned up afterward.

40 Backpacks were purchased and filled by Resurrection givers in July, so students right here in Marion will be able to start their school year off with no worries. Thanks to Marion Cares staff and Jill Hansen for organizing this much-needed program for our area youth.

FLY helpers – The ‘Feeding Lunches to Youth’ program provides sack lunches in the summer for needy youth in the Marion & Linn Mar districts. FLY has served more than 5,000 meals so far this summer! LCR volunteers serve on Mondays by preparing lunches or delivering/serving at designated sites. Kids and teens are welcome to serve with an adult. Sign up to help at http://signup.com/go/JDqAoNO. Our last Monday is August 19th.

Churches of Marion Food Pantry – Summer is the time of year when food donations go DOWN and demand goes UP, as kids are not receiving school-based meals. Can you help us fill the gap this summer for local families? You can donate items directly (list on bulletin board), or help us fund our purchases. Food donations are accepted at the bins in our gathering space. Monetary donations may be sent to the Pantry (864 – 12th St. in Marion). THANKS SO MUCH for your continued support!

Fellowship

55+ Group – The proposal to establish a new group for the 55+ crowd has been met with enthusiasm and support. If you can, please gather with us on Sunday, August 18 at 9:30 in the fellowship hall or contact Pam Brown at batsllc@msn.com. We welcome your interest and suggestions!

Youth Discipleship

Register now online!  Sunday School and Wednesday Night Live forms are now available.  Youth programming begins the week of September 8th.

Adult Discipleship

It’s time to stop worrying about money! The nine-lesson Financial Peace University (FPU) course is the proven plan to help you keep a budget, beat debt, and build wealth! Dave Ramsey and his team of financial experts teach every lesson with biblical wisdom, and you’ll get support and encouragement along the way. FPU includes your workbook and a free year of Financial Peace Membership, and an online tool kit to support your journey. This series will begin in September; contact Pam Brown or Donna Dennis for more info.

Facilitators will be needed as we gear up for fall and the start of new adult faith classes. We’re particularly looking for folks who want to facilitate a class in one of these areas:

> Doubters – folks with questions about faith – why? how? who?

> How do I…. pray? study the bible? learn a new spiritual practice?

> What does the Bible say about… money? health? relationships?

parenting? dying? etc. Contact Donna Dennis or Dan Tegtmeier if you’re interested in serving this way.

Lifetree Café – Join us Sunday at 9:05 am or Friday at 12 pm for coffee, snacks, and discussion. Feel free to invite outside friends, as we have conversations about topics relevant to everyone. Our subject this week is “Why Are You So Hard on Yourself?”
