The LCR Bookstore, which has operated in the small room near the Welcome Center for the past eight years, is closing. When we moved to the new building ten years ago our research showed that operating a small bookstore would be advantageous to the people of the congregation. Since the bookstore opened, online shopping at sites like Amazon or Barnes & Noble and the use of e-reading devices like the Kindle have increased exponentially making it easier for people to buy faith-based literature almost anywhere at any time. Sales of books through the bookstore have been extremely sluggish.
Because of these trends it was decided that it would be wiser to use the space as an additional class room and small group meeting room. Half of the cabinet/shelving units will be relocated to the Conference Room for storage and the remaining cabinets will be used to house materials for our small group ministries.
The Fair Trade items (coffee, tea and chocolates) will also be discontinued when the current supply runs out. In the meantime you can continue to purchase these items at the Welcome Center window on Sunday mornings or by stopping by the church during regular office hours.
We thank you for your support of the bookstore and hope that the new space is a benefit to many in the congregation.
