Fellowship Canoe Trip & Cookout 7/29/17

Join in on the fun at Flying Squirrel Shelter in Pinicon Ridge Park on Saturday afternoon, July 29. Please register in advance at the gathering space table so we know how much to buy for the picnic. The last day you can reserve canoes will be July 24th.

Please note that Flying Squirrel is NOT where we met in years past. Flying Squirrel Shelter is on the EAST SIDE of the Wapsi River. Enter the park at the north entrance (Valley Farm Rd.).

Fellowship: You can come anytime during the afternoon for snacks, horseshoes, games, hiking, sand volleyball, playground for the kids, etc. Paddle boats and canoes may be rented in the park for $10/ hour plus $1 for life jackets ~ OR ~ you can just sit in the shade and enjoy the fellowship!

2:30 pm – Cookout: The Fellowship Team will provide hot dogs, chicken breasts, buns, condiments, lemonade, and water. Please bring a dish to share with others and table service for yourself.

Noon – Canoe Pick-up: Those taking the canoe trip must meet at rental office for paperwork and safety instruction. Canoe rental is $25/day, including life jackets. A shuttle will take canoe renters to the river. If you have your own canoe or kayak, you may park at Paris Bridge and put your boat in. If there is no parking, you may drive back to the shelter and park there. There will be a shuttle available to take you to the launch site. (Ages 16 and up may rent canoes themselves; those under 16 must have a parent sign a waiver at the rental office.)

1:00-3:00 pm – Canoe Trip: Canoers should bring a ziploc bag for your phone & keys, life vests, and a water bottle.

Other items you might want to bring: Lawn chairs, sunscreen, lawn games and/or volleyballs.

Canoe Trip & Cookout are both alcohol-free events.
