Dear members and friends of LCR,
On this coming Easter Sunday, April 1, there will be festive worship services at 8:15, 9:45, and 11:00. At 8:15, I will preach on “The Greatest Upset of All Time” from John 20. The Resurrection choir will share three anthems at this service, and we will sing some great Easter hymns. At 9:45 and 11:00, Pastor Miranda will preach on the Mark 16 story of Easter, under the theme “The End? Or the Beginning?” Our With Faith team will lead our worship, with the Resurrection Choir sharing an anthem at 9:45. All services will offer holy communion. Come early to get a good seat, as last year we had about 900 attend the three Easter services. The 9:45 is traditionally the largest service (428 in 2017); one way to show hospitality to visitors is to attend the 8:15 or 11:00 Easter services to make more room for guests at 9:45.
The EDGE youth will serve an Easter brunch from 7:30-11:00, with pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and fruit on the menu. All proceeds will go to their summer mission trip in Houston, Texas, helping those still recovering from Hurricane Harvey.
There are other upcoming events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note. Our website (www.lcrmarion.org) provide more details on each topic.
Blessings to you,

Stephen Ministers Available to Offer Care – There are times when every one of us experiences difficulties. In times of trouble, we look to caring Christian friends to listen to us while we work through our feelings. A Stephen Minister can be such a friend either to you or to someone you know. Our Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have received 50 hours of training to minister to people experiencing a crisis or going through a difficult time in life. These Stephen Ministers are committed to providing Christian care for others experiencing many different needs. If you or someone you know could benefit from the trained, caring presence and listening ear of a Stephen Minister, contact Pastor Miranda Klosterboer (Stephen Leader) at 815-291-5793 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Habitat for Humanity & LCR landscaping day will be Saturday, April 21. This is the home in Marion (282 22nd St) that LCR is sponsoring with a $15,000 pledge from our Gift & Outreach Fund. We’ll need about 18 volunteers that day as well as some volunteers to prepare lunch. At 2 pm that same day, the Bosco family will receive the keys to their new home. If you would like to help do some outdoor landscaping that day, contact Jill Hanson (firstname.lastname@example.org) or leave a note on your welcome card.
Marion Cares – Help us by preparing and serving a meal to our Marion Cares kids this winter/spring. Dinners will be needed at Marion Village on Mondays: April 9 or May 7; and sack lunches for Thursday, May 10. The meals can be quite simple – recipes for Walking Tacos and BBQ Chicken Sandwiches are posted on the entryway bulletin board – or you can use one of your own favorites. This is a project you can do with your family, co-workers, friends, or small group – anyone who wants to make a positive impact on local children’s lives! Sign up by contacting Jen at email@example.com
“Reverse Lent” Giving Project – Thanks to all who have given so generously to the Marion Food Pantry through our Giving Project in Lent.
March-April mission envelopes are designated for the ELCA “40 Days of Giving” emphasis. Malawi health & wellness projects and education & vocational training needs will be supported through this emphasis.
Your gifts to the Growth & Outreach Fund in April will provide salary, benefits, and housing for our seminary intern, Alyssa Weaver; facility maintenance and repair; and support of Marion Cares and the Marion Habitat home described above. In March we met our $5000 goal for Camp Chisomo scholarships. 14 LCR teens and adults will travel to Malawi in June to host Camp Chisomo for the orphans of the village. Each participant will receive a $350 scholarship from your gifts to the Growth & Outreach Fund in February-March.
General Fund gifts support our local ministries and programs led by our staff and carried out by our members and friends. Your General Fund gifts also support our mission partners locally and around the world. Our monthly need will be about $57,800 for an annual budget of $693,350. Thanks for your generous, faithful support so far in 2018! At the end of March, we had received 99% of what was needed for General Fund ministries through the first quarter.
Giving through VANCO – You can give electronically to LCR through: the giving kiosk by the library or the Give+ mobile app, available from Google Play or iTunes. Once your information has been entered on the app, you can give to LCR anytime, anywhere. Another option is to send a text message to the number (319) 320-1628 from your mobile phone. You will receive a one-time registration link to enter credit or debit card payment information. After that, you can simply text the amount you want to give and it will process automatically.
Simply Giving – You can elect to have a weekly or monthly gift withdrawn from your checking or savings account. Enrollment forms are in the info rack by the Welcome Center. Over a third of our General Fund offerings come from Simply Giving families.
