November Worship

In November we turn our attention to the part of the Lord’s Prayer in which we pray for God’s will to be done. What is God’s will? While there are many answers to this provocative question, we will focus on the answer provided by the prophet Micah: “God has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)

November 7 & 10: All Saints Do Justice – The Missional Will of God
Paul exhorts the Corinthian church to excel in many things including the grace of giving to provide justice for those who do not have what they need. The mission command points us beyond our own self-centered wants to the needs of those around us, and around the world.

Nov 14 & 17:  Love Kindness – The Relational Will of God
We are told from an early age that God wants us to love one another. But what does it look like to love someone you don’t like? When we act with kindness, and make it a habitual part of our life we can show love even to people we don’t get along with.

Nov 21:  Walk Humbly with God – The Sacrificial Will of God
Humility seems to be in short supply these days. It seems like everyone has on opinion on everything and they are certain that everybody else needs to know it. When we walk humbly with God we find ourselves at the cross of Jesus in a sacrificial posture.
