Serving is one of the core values of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Last Sunday, August 27th, LCR members and friends of all ages came together to package 111 boxes of food to go to needy families at the Crisis Center in Iowa City. We were able to make 3,996 bags of food in three hours with the help of 160+ people of all ages. That means 24,00 individual servings of the rice & bean meal that will feed hungry families right here in eastern Iowa! Thank you so much to everyone who participated and helped make this event possible.
On a similar note, the F.L.Y. (Feeding Lunches to Youth) summer meal program for kids in the LinnMar & Marion school districts served over 11,000 meals this year! Thank you, Resurrection members and friends, for making so many sandwiches and packing all those lunches, for delivering to them to the sites, and for your ongoing financial assistance to this vital program in Marion.
