Kenneth O. Petrick, 78, of 433 42nd St. NE, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. The Rev. Dennis Johnson will officiate. Inurnment: Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; three daughters, Kendra Langert of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Lauri (David) Traub of Lakeville, Minn., and Nancy (Michael) Almasi of Robins; and a sister, Marly (Bob) Larson of Mahtomedi, Minn. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Jordan and Haley Traub; Kendall Langert; Connor, Brooke and Caleb Almasi; and his dog, Eddie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank.
Ken was born April 2, 1933, in Peever, S.D., the son of Theodore and Claire (Carlson) Petrick. He graduated from Iowa State University and was in transportation management for several trucking companies until his retirement in 2003. He married Janice K. Warren on Feb. 21, 1959, in Blue Earth, Minn.
Ken was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, a school board chairman in Rosemount, Minn., and a member of the Jaycees for several years. He was very proud to be an American and proudly served in the Marines during the Korean War.
Ken was very handy and enjoyed doing home repair. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his beloved family.
Ken was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
