This Sunday, June 26th: Josh Guyer, Wartburg Seminary
As a congregation of the ELCA, our offerings help support our seminaries, including Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque. Today we will hear from Josh Guyer of Wartburg Seminary about the challenges and opportunities of ordained ministry. Like Paul, many hear a call to preach and teach while in their home congregations during times of worship and prayer. Could the Lord be calling someone today in worship to preach the gospel?
On Wednesday, June 29th, Resurrection member Cathy Soppe will preach.
Serving Thanks: Vacation Bible School helpers
This last week 57 preschoolers and kindergartners had a ‘barnyard’ of fun learning about the love and protection of our shepherd Jesus. We couldn’t have done it without the caring service of adult, high school, and middle school helpers. THANK YOU ALL!
Serving Opportunities this summer:
Reading Buddies are needed throughout the summer for kids at three Marion Cares sites. You can volunteer on Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu and at 11:30-12:00 or 12:00-12:30. Adults and high schoolers are welcome to help keep youngsters’ reading skills on track throughout the summer. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com or call 319.377.5344 to sign up.
Feeding Lunch to Youth (FLY), Marion’s summer lunch program, serves children each week at eight locations. Members of Resurrection and other local churches make the sack lunches, deliver them, and clean up afterwards. If you would like to take part in this valuable program for the kids of our community, talk to LCR rep Jill Hansen. In addition, FLY always needs granola bars and regular ziploc bags (not the ones with sliders). Please place your donations in the marked bin near welcome center. Thank you!
TRANSFORM 2016 is our Adult Service Project this summer, through Matthew 25 in Cedar Rapids. Serve with other volunteers to take part in a variety of tasks in the Taylor (SW) neighborhood. Dates are July 11-15. More information is on the church entryway bulletin board and online at www.hub25.org.
