On Sunday, February 28, 2010 family and friends of Resurrection gathered at Squaw Creek Park in Marion for an afternoon of fellowship and fun on a beautiful winter day.
17 contestants brought an array of chili with no two even similar. There were samples of vegetarian chili, Texas style chili, white chili, chocolate chili, Cuban chili and more. The chili ranged from the mildest of the mild to extra spicy. Everyone who came was given 5 tickets to vote for their favorite. When the voting was done this year’s grand champion was Gary and Jill Hansen’s “Wimpy Chili.” Jill attributed the win to the fact that her chili appealed to the kid voting demographic who don’t like their chili spicy.
In addition to the great food we were blessed with an awesome winter day with lots of sunshine yet still cool enough to make snow conditions perfect for sledding. Kids of all ages were going up and down the hill all afternoon long and only stopped long enough for a quick warm-up before heading back up the hill. More sledding (and other) photos can be seen at Resurrection’s Smugmug site.
Thanks for all the hard work done by the Fellowship Committee for set-up and clean-up especially Cheri and Jamie Reider and Brenda and Gary Lange.
