Dear members and friends of LCR,
This Sunday, January 21, will highlight the start of Jesus’ ministry and the call of four fishermen (Mark 1:14-20). After Jesus proclaims the good news of the gospel, he calls Peter, Andrew, James, and John to follow him and “fish for people.” I will preach on this familiar text and add three stories of Alfred, Kathy, and Mike who were “caught in the net” of the gospel and came to faith in Jesus Christ.
There are other upcoming events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note. Our website (www.lcrmarion.org) provide more details on each topic.

Marion Cares Opportunities – Here are some great local volunteer opportunities to give of yourself in 2018. Think about giving your time to the children of Marion Cares. These kids need YOU – to listen, to play games, to support, to color with, to talk to, to read with to, to spend time with. Just think – if everyone gave of one hour of their time, LCR could easily support this worthwhile program. Volunteering as a family is welcome, too. See the entryway bulletin board for more information. Sign up by contacting Jen Christopherson at email@example.com.
Personal Care Kits – Rebecca Mary Martha Circle is collecting light-weight bath towels and bars of soap for Personal Care Kits. Assembled kits will be sent to Lutheran World Relief for world-wide distribution. Donations may be placed in the marked tub in the gathering space through February 11th. Call Lareen Gull (373-3304) with questions.
Last call for 2018 Fund Appeal commitments – If you haven’t already done so, we ask you to bring your 2018 commitment forms on Sunday or mail them in to the office. Please consider dividing your gifts in 2018 between the General Fund and a new Growth & Outreach Fund in an 80/20 ratio, with 80% designated for the General Fund and 20% to the Growth & Outreach Fund. There are extra forms at the Welcome Center window if you need them.
