LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION e-news

Dear members and friends of LCR,

This Sunday we will continue our five week sermon series on “The Power of Purpose” with a look at the purpose of Evangelism. I will share some thoughts in the sermon on the word evangel, which means good news; how someone changed my life by sharing the good news with me in college; offer a few thoughts on the rise of evangelists in the last century; and finish with a video clip from RightNow Media about Walt, whose life was changed through hearing and reading the good news. The Sunday School kids will sing 1-2-3 at the 9:45 and 11:00 services.

There are other upcoming events and opportunities that we want to alert you to through this weekly e-note. The monthly Crosstalk and our website (www.lcrmarion.org) provide more details on each topic.

Happy Mothers Day!

Pastor Dennis

WORSHIP

Calling all Singers – The choir is doing a special music offering on Pentecost, Sunday, June 4. Pentecost is all about the Holy Spirit, so we’ll be singing some uplifting songs! We are looking for some more voices to join us. Even if you’ve never sung in choir before, come and help us make a joyful noise. We practice on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 pm. Contact Lyn A’Hearn (lyncahearn@gmail.com) for more information.

Spirit Stories – Pentecost is a celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit – and we are looking for brief stories of how YOU have experienced the Holy Spirit in your life. They do not need to be long or detailed. The stories will be part of the choir presentation on Sunday, June 4. All stories will be confidential. Please email any stories to Cheryl Wilms (ehcheryl@aol.com) or leave in the church office. Let’s be witnesses – share your story, give God the Glory!

STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS

A Visioning Workshop will be held on Tuesday night, May 16 for the Long Range Planning Team, Church Council, and staff. Last Tuesday we met with Jana Swenson, our consultant from Kairos & Associates, as she led us through some of the key findings from her focus groups and individual interviews. We are making progress toward our goal of having a new set of mission goals for the coming years.
