Jan. 29 & Feb. 1: A Light for the Lowly

WORSHIP

Who are the blessed ones of God? For the prophet Micah, they are those who do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God. For Paul, they are the ones who find wisdom in the foolishness of the cross. When the world rejects you, Jesus offers light in your darkness. Preacher: Pastor Dennis

January 22 & 15: Witnessing to the Light

January 22 & 15: Witnessing to the Light

In Matthew chapter four, Jesus calls fishermen to follow him, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.”  They do courageously follow and eventually witness to God’s saving presence in Jesus. God is at work in your life, and Jesus is calling you to courageously follow him. In a world that can often seem so dark, how do we see God at work and tell others about the light and love of Jesus?  Preacher: Pastor Miranda

When you come to service today/this week, make sure to pick up your copy of the 2016 Annual Report. This Sunday, the 22nd, there will be a budget forum in the church office at 9:45 am. NEXT SUNDAY, January 29th, Resurrection will hold its Annual Meeting at 12:15 pm. Please plan to attend.

Sunday School will be held at 9:45 this Sunday morning for preschool through 5th graders. Our Adult Faith Development class will also be held at 9:45 – subject for 1/22 is Methodism. All are welcome!

November 6 & 9: Loving Generously – Kind

Jesus was often suspected of wrong motives on his mission to set captives free. His friends included women looked down upon by others in society, women like Julia in today’s film. Today’s film also raises the issue of unspoken “walls” that separate people from one another – walls of race, class, and culture. What can you do this week for people who live on the other side of the “wall?” On this All Saints Sunday, we will light candles to remember departed saints, including 11 LCR saints in the past year, and consider how we can follow their example in lives of faith and commitment. Preacher: Pastor Dennis

The Church Council will host an open forum on Sunday, November 6th from 9:30-11:00 in fellowship hall. Bring your coffee and spend some time with your Council members sharing your questions, thoughts, concerns, dreams.

Advent Wreath Candle-Lighters will be needed in worship beginning Sunday, Nov. 27 through December 18 at all services. Individuals, couples, and families are all welcome. Please sign up on the back of your welcome card and specify which service and dates work for you.

Growing Older will conclude today at 9:45 am in the far end of fellowship hall. Dr. Mike Almasi and Dr. Ann Soenen will discuss medical issues of aging.adventcandlesvolunteer

July 17: Called to Give

This Sunday, July 17th: Pastor Dennis preaches “Called to Give”

This Sunday we continue our look at the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul through the video “The Call” by Adam Hamilton. On his third missionary journey, Paul spends significant time in Ephesus, one of the most important cities in the first-century world. While he is there, he is confronted by an angry mob as a result of the economic impact of his preaching of the gospel. The relationship between faith, idolatry, and material wealth lies at the root of his preaching, and is still an issue in today’s world.
