Lutheran Church of the Resurrection partners with many local, national, and international organizations to be God’s hands here on earth. Many of our partners are listed below; even more than financial support, their greatest need is volunteers. Crossroads Mission

Resurrection members donate food & clothing, volunteer at Wednesday workdays, and provide financial support.

Crossroads is a neighborhood Christian mission to support members of the community. We maintain a food & personal care pantry, a clothes closet, and changing/shower rooms. We make referrals to pastors, religious resources, and secular resources in the community as appropriate. http://crmide.com

 

Ewalu Summer Camp

Resurrection members volunteer at Ewalu and donate money for “camperships”.

Over 1,000 campers come to Ewalu each year to grow in faith, experience Christian community, enjoy outdoor adventures, and make new friends. The Ewalu staff lives to celebrate Christ and encourage the faith, fun, and well-being of campers. Camp Ewalu is accredited by the American Camping Association.  http://www.ewalu.org

 

Marion Cares

Resurrection members of all ages volunteer, donate materials for Back-to-School backpacks, and provide financial support.

Marion Cares assists with everything from after-school programs to food & supplies for less fortunate families. We are a faith-based organization determined to make our community a better place for everyone, with over twenty churches collaborating.  http://www.marioncares.org

 

Feeding Lunches to Youth (FLY)

Resurrection members of all ages volunteer, donate food, and provide financial support.

FLY serves sack lunches to local students every weekday throughout the summer months. The lunches are prepared and delivered each day out of the First United Methodist by volunteers.  http://www.flymarion.org

Resurrection members volunteer, donate food, and provide financial support.

“Teaching Christ’s Truth” is an ecumenical outreach ministry provided at the Azure apartments in Marion on Monday afternoons. YouthWorks

Our youth and college groups serve through mission trips, and Resurrection members provide financial support.

YouthWorks provides life-changing, Christ-centered mission trips for students and adult leaders in 70+ communities across North America. We seek to build relation-ships and serve communities because Jesus set that example with us. Lutheran World Relief

Our Comforting Hands group creates tied quilts from donated materials; our afternoon women’s circle solicits donations and assembles/packs Personal Care & School Kits; our bookstore sells Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate; and Resurrection members provide funds for shipping quilts and kits.

Affirming God’s love for all people, we work with Lutherans and partners around the world to end poverty, injustice, and human suffering. http://lwr.org

 

Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity

Resurrection members volunteer on one Marion Build and one Thrivent Build each summer and provide financial support.

CVHFH uses as much volunteer labor and discounted or donated materials as possible. New units are sold at no interest to families whose annual income does not allow them conventional financing, but who can afford to buy and maintain a home if the price and terms are right.  http://www.cvhabitat.org

 

Marion Lutheran Churches Blood Drive

Resurrection members and friends donate cookies, juice, and life-giving blood.

Give the gift of life! Your donation is used in this community. Your reward is cookies, juice, and a chance to visit with friends from Ascension and Faith Lutheran. Together we give three times a year through Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.  http://bloodcenter.org/index.aspx

 

Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse)

Resurrection members of all ages buy and package gift boxes and provide funds for shipping.

Boys and girls in over 130 countries experience God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. Kids Against Hunger

Resurrection members of all ages participate in the packaging events and provide funds for shipping.

Kids Against Hunger packages highly nutritious, life-saving meals for starving and malnourished children and their families in developing countries and the United States.  http://kidsagainsthunger.org/

 

Texas/Mexio Mission

Resurrection members serve in Texas & Mexico and provide financial support and material donations.

The Texas/Mexico Mission provides an opportunity to minister to brothers and sisters in Christ in Eagle Pass, Texas, and Piedras Negras, Mexico. The trips are held spring and fall, as safety allows, and deliver medical care to adults and children. Construction projects are performed through the local Hands and Feet Ministry. Dementia Caregiver Support Group

Resurrection members provide space for regular support group meetings.

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Caregiver Support Groups help participants exchange practical information on caregiving problems & solutions, and encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal health.  http://www.alz.org/

 

Marion Holiday Giving Project

Resurrection members buy and package gifts, clothing, and grocery cards and donate cash.

Times are tough for families of students in the Marion Independent School District, so many come to the school district and local churches and businesses to receive Christmas gifts, clothing, and money for food through our annual project.

 

Cedar Valley Humane Society

Resurrection students make pet adoption blankets and members donate materials.

The CVHS is dedicated to eliminating cruelty, abuse, and overpopulation of animals through education and adoption services.  http://www.cvhumane.org/

 

Project Linus

Resurrection Sunday School students make blankets, and members donate materials and funds for shipping.

We provide security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”  http://www.projectlinus.org/

 

Trees Forever

Resurrection students plant trees in our community and members provide financial support.

Trees Forever is a grassroots group of citizen volunteers determined to make sure our world is a greener, healthier, more vibrant place for all our children and grandchildren. http://www.treesforever.org/

 

Linn County Correctional Chaplaincy Ministry

Resurrection members perform bible studies in local facilities and provide financial support.

The LCCCM offers spiritual support to all people of all faiths within Linn County’s correctional system and lends support and guidance to their family, their friends, and to corrections staff.  http://imfreeindeed.com/

 

SERRV (Sales Exchange for Refugee Rehabilitation and Vocation)

Resurrection holds an annual “Fair Trade Fair” each November.

SERRV is a nonprofit organization with a mission to eradicate poverty wherever it resides by providing opportunity and support to artisans and farmers worldwide. http://www.serrv.org/

 

Heifer International

Resurrection students learn in depth about this ministry and members provide financial support.

Heifer International empowers families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity. Our animals provide partners with both food and reliable income, as agricultural products such as milk, eggs, and honey that can be traded or sold at market.  http://www.heifer.org/

 

Marion Senior Living Community

Resurrection provides financial support for this mission.

The MSLC Foundation’s mission is to provide affordable, quality housing for low- to moderate-income seniors. There are three buildings on the east side of Hwy 13, north of the 151 intersection. Moundview Manor & Trinity Pointe have 40 apartments each for residents 62 and older; Scott Meadows has 32 apartments for residents 55 and older. http://www.ecc-cr.net/hhm.php

 

Community Free Health Clinic

Resurrection provides financial support for this mission.

CFHC provides free medical services for under-served patients in Cedar Rapids, Marion, and surrounding areas. These include primary care, dental & eye clinics, and free or low-cost prescription drugs.  http://www.communityhfc.org/

 

Willis Dady Emergency Shelter

Resurrection provides financial support for this mission.

Willis Dady’s mission is to provide immediate shelter to homeless single men and families in a safe, clean, and caring atmosphere that promotes progress toward ending the cycle of homelessness.  http://www.willisdady.org/

 

Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Resurrection provides financial support for this mission.

Marked with the cross of Christ forever, we are claimed, gathered, and sent for the sake of the world. Members of the ELCA believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. Resurrection provides financial support for this mission.

The mission of ELCA campus ministries is to invite students to engage more deeply with the teachings of Jesus Christ and the community that bears his name, so that they can discover and fulfill their vocation as disciples. ‘Especially for You’ Race Against Breast Cancer

Resurrection provides financial support for this mission.

The ‘EFY’ Race Against Breast Cancer Fund supports free mammograms and other breast-care services to area women in need, and educates individuals on the importance of early detection.  www.especiallyforyourace.org
